Golden Turmeric Latté

It’s no secret that this summer hasn’t been very “summery”. Sure, we got spoiled with some spectacular 30 degree dock days, but those were usually incompassed by about 7 straight days of rain. Needless to say the wearer has been less than ideal and I think that it’s finally starting to get to me (cue sore throat and itchy ears). This is possibly the worst time for me to get sick seeing as I’m moving out in two days and start university in one week from now. 

The past couple of nights I’ve been whipping up this epic turmeric latté not only to aid my on-coming sore throat, but also my permanently temperamental stomach. This recipe is pretty simple and very enjoyable to sip on whilst reading a good book or binging a Netflix series (do any of you watch The Good Wife?!).

Golden Turmeric Latté

Serves 1

5 slices of fresh ginger

1 teaspoon ground Turmeric

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

6 cardamom pods, crushed

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 teaspoon honey

1 cup almond milk
Method

Combind all the ingredients in a small saucepan. Whisk well and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Strain the latté through a tea infuser and allow to steep for a few minutes.

Remove the infuser and enjoy!

In the days leading up to my school trip to Boston I was baking up a storm. As you can probably imagine the food on school trips is a far stretch from gourmet, but for people with intolerances and specific diets, such as I, the food is practically non-existent. Sweet Potato Toast Two Ways

Last night was wild! It was my senior prom and, well, it definitely din’t disappoint. After a long night of dancing, talking and just straight up fun it’s always nice to wake up and cook up a big feel good style breakfast. (Think eggs, hash browns, grease lol). Morning Toast Three Ways

Sometimes I find that it’s best to keep things simple. I’m a big time planner when it comes to food; I always try to plan out each meal ahead of time to make my life a little easier. Most of my Sunday mornings are spent at the kitchen table flipping through cookbook after cookbook to decide what I want to have on hand and eat over the course of the upcoming week. Based off of my decisions, I compile a list of ingredients to stock up on. In my mind this is a wonderful system, but my family seems to find it bizarre and unrealistic (I beg to differ). Meal planning is a great way to reduce food waste and to prevent that dreadful moment where you open your empty fridge with a rumbling stomach and a lack of ideas.
